Emmanuel hails from Osun State, Nigeria. He completed his BSc in Demography at Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU), Nigeria, and his honours and his master’s degrees in demography and population studies at Wits University. In his MA research, Emmanuel added an African perspective to the benefit of social cohesion for improving the population health. For his doctoral studies at Wits, Emmanuel will be examining how social media can be leveraged to improve population health, and subsequently contribute towards the realisation of the Sustainable Development Goals. He hopes to contribute to the body of knowledge and drive new discussions on the role of digital media in sexual and reproductive health studies, particularly in Africa. Emmanuel is also involved in various interdisciplinary research projects around the social determinant of health, sexual and reproductive health. He is, for example, the coordinator of the Sexually Healthy and Young [SHY] Adults research network. He enjoys sleeping.
