Lungile is a demographer from Swaziland. She completed her undergraduate degree in social sciences at the University of Swaziland in 2008, and finished both her honours and master’s degrees in demography and population studies at the University of the Witwatersrand (in 2012 and 2014, respectively). She joined the University of Swaziland where she taught for three years. Lungile is passionate about conducting demographic research, in particular on mortality and sexual and reproductive health. For her PhD, she will investigate the effects of absent biological parents on the sexual and reproductive health behaviour of adolescents in Swaziland. This research will contribute towards the development of appropriate adolescent sexual and reproductive health programmes that will help reduce the risk of new HIV infections among young people in Swaziland. Lungile became a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society in 2015. She enjoys watching movies, participating in outdoor activities and spending time with friends and family.
