Richard Kingsley Padi, from Ghana, holds a BSc (Hons) in Chemical Engineering (2012) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (2012), and a MEng in Chemical Engineering from Stellenbosch University, South Africa (2016). For his master’s, Richard investigated the feasibility and economic potentials of bioenergy generation and integration in African food processes, as a driver for advancing the mechanisation of the food processing sector. In his PhD at SU, Richard will assess the viability of cassava-based food and biorefinery industries in South Africa using a systems modelling approach. He aims to contribute to the techno-economics and long-term sustainability of cassava as a food security and economic empowerment crop. Richard has interests in sustainable energy and environmental solutions for developing economies.
